What is Roze Room Hospice?

Roze Room Hospice is a licensed Medicare certified and JCAHO accredited hospice which has distinguished itself as a premier hospice program.

Hospice is not a place. It is a program designed for terminally ill patients and their families who are no longer actively seeking a medical cure but instead have elected to pursue relief from pain and choose to focus on comfort care. Hospice services are provided by a team of healthcare professionals of various disciplines, including physicians, registered nurses, social workers, home health aides, spiritual counselors, therapists, dieticians and volunteers. Am I eligible for hospice services?

Hospice care is provided to terminally ill patients who have a limited life expectancy, as certified by physicians, and who wish to receive comfort care rather than treatment to cure the terminal illness. Eligibility

Hospice care is used to alleviate pain and suffering, and treat symptoms rather than to cure the illness. Services are directed toward the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of the patient/family unit. Hospice services are designed to maximize the patient’s comfort.

Who will pay for my hospice services?

If you receive Medicare or Medi-Cal benefits you are entitled to hospice care. Most medical insurances and health maintenance organizations offer hospice care as a benefit. To learn more about hospice services click here.

Who will be involved in providing hospice services?

Hospice services are coordinated and delivered by a team of healthcare professionals of various disciplines, including physicians, registered nurses, social workers, home health aides, spiritual counselors, therapists, dieticians and volunteers. This team is known as the "interdisciplinary team." The interdisciplinary team develops a plan of care which outlines the care the team perceives to be necessary in order to meet the needs of the patient and family. The plan of care is developed in order to manage the patient’s pain and symptoms as well as meet the patient’s psychological, social and spiritual needs.

Can my family be involved in my care?

Family members are encouraged to participate in the patient’s care as much as possible. Hospice views the patient and family as the unit of care.  If patient has no family members to assist in care giving, hospice will work with willing friends or neighbors of the patient.

Can my primary physician work with the hospice team?

Yes. Most primary physicians continue to plan most of the patient’s care in coordination with the hospice team and the hospice physician.

Will hospice provide medicines for my terminal illness?

Drugs necessary for pain relief and symptom management related to the terminal illness are provided and paid for by hospice.

Will hospice provide medical supplies and equipment?

Medical supplies (such as catheters and bandages) and medical equipment (such as wheelchairs, walkers, beds) necessary for pain relief and symptom management related to the terminal illness are provided and paid for by hospice.

Is hospice available at night or on the weekends?

Yes.  You can call  on Roze Room Hospice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What are bereavement services?

After the patient dies, bereavement counseling is available to assist the family with the grieving process.

Can I discontinue hospice care?

A patient can discontinue hospice services at any time.
